McLean, Virginia; October 4, 2012 – More than 20 wounded warriors and hundreds of community members will participate in the 2012 McLean 5K Run with the Warriors to help provide injured veterans with a comfortable place to live during their recovery. The race, co-hosted by CENTURY 21 New Millennium, will benefit the Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing Project, an initiative to renovate apartments that will serve as transitional housing for injured service members discharged from inpatient care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Retired Navy Rear Adm. Kathleen L. Martin, executive director and CEO of Vinson Hall said, “These wounded warriors have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom. They deserve to live in a place that will support their healing and help them toward a full recovery. I truly believe the newly renovated apartments at Vinson Hall can accomplish that.”
The race will take place Saturday, Oct. 6, at 8 a.m. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. at McLean Square on 6629 Old Dominion Drive. An awards ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. More information is available at www.mclean5k.com.
