They came here for a better future, and both worked 16 hours a day, so they sent me to Guatemala to live with my grandmother when I was only 6 months old. I came back to the United States when I was 5 years old to start school only knowing Spanish but soon was advanced in reading by second grade. Because of my parents’ sacrifices, I consider myself a hard worker and because of that, I’m fully bilingual.
