On Saturday, Aug. 19, CENTURY 21 New Millennium partnered with Sabre Systems, Inc. to participate in the second annual Solomons Island Dragon Boat Festival in Solomons, Md. It was a day filled with sunshine, community spirit and competition, which saw 28 teams from across the Tri-County area and beyond gather on Solomons Island.
After winning their first two heats, “The Centurions”—comprised of agents and staff members from New Millennium and Sabre—were among three teams to qualify for the championship heat. In a thrilling 200-meter sprint race, The Centurions were edged out by a (dragon-sized) nose in a photo finish to place third overall in the competition.
More importantly, The Centurions were recognized as the team who raised the most funds—nearly $6,000—to support the event’s worthy cause, Southern Maryland Community Resources.
SMCR is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that helps to bridge the gap for individuals with developmental differences in our community. The organization advocate for individuals with special needs, to recognize their inherent dignity because they are members of our one human family. They promote social recreational and educational opportunities where individuals with developmental differences can contribute their unique gifts and develop their potential.
