Inadvertently, my Mom got me started in real estate when I was a kid. We would go to open houses, walk through builder models and sometimes go into nearby homes under construction to check them out. She still thinks I owe her a bit of each commission!

In the late 1980s, I worked for a custom home builder and later became Executive Assistant to the VP of Construction Loans for a bank in Maryland. Since then, I have been involved in many aspects of real estate including sales, training and mentoring new agents, and was the broker of record for a top ten CENTURY 21 New Millennium office for five years. I am active in the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors and served on the Grievance Committee for six years before starting on the Professional Standards Committee in 2018.

Basically, I love real estate. On the buy-side, I enjoy the thrill of the house hunt, the satisfaction in finding the right home for my client, helping guide people to homeownership, being the winning offer and seeing my client get the home they want. On the listing side, my competitiveness also shows up and I enjoy being the one chosen to help the seller fulfill their goals of selling for the highest dollar in the shortest time and negotiating to protect my seller’s interests. I especially like it when my previous buyers call me to help them sell their home and find a new one.

I have lived in Northern Virginia since 1984 and have lived in Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax and Prince William Counties. I have seen the changes to the landscape and the real estate market and can help move you in the right direction. Licensed in Virginia and a full-time Realtor since 2001, I have tried to get as much education in real estate as possible so I can use it to help my clients. Many years ago, I put in the extra hours to get my Associate Broker’s license, and since then, I have earned many additional designations in my profession. I use my knowledge to educate my clients to make informed decisions and not feel lost in the process and paperwork. I have also consistently been a Century 21 Pinnacle Quality Service Award winner.

      My wife and I just completed our 4th transaction through Kelly. We've been working with her since 2010. For this transac tion, we bought a home and then needed to move across state lines. One added bonus when working with Kelly is that she not only knows smart people to assist you securely with your end-to-end transaction, but they are also very good communicators. If Kelly didn't know the answer to something, she knows 3 people who know it and are exceptional at what they do. Kelly supported us not only on the selling side of the transaction but also (when asked) gave us some key guidance and wisdom on the selling end.  Kelly always supports our decisions and helps put them in a new light so that we understand what may not be seen. I am generally one to think I am smarter than most around me, and clearly, I don't know real estate better than Kelly. At no point did she ever make me feel inferior. In fact, she always found a way to partner with my personality. That partnership made us a wonderful tandem and made my life (wife's too) much easier as we were trying to move across state lines. Kelly goes above and beyond even helping us locate very reliable movers. For pictures of the home, she brought a very niche photographer who assisted in even making a video of our home. This was not your usual video that's seen across 3D pics; it had music, etc. The one thing with Kelly that goes unmatched across other agents in the industry is that you will not find one who knows the books or the many misconceptions about markets and transactions. Because she is so equipped with the knowledge, I've seen her patiently educate and assist other agents in their craft who don't even work for her. She knew our rentback contract (and the technicalities surrounding the situation) in a level of detail that saved us an absorbent amount of money compared to what most agents would have done. Last, we could not use Kelly in the state where we purchased our new home. Although our new agent (from another company) was easy to work with, there were several aspects when we missed having Kelly manage our transaction. Kelly was even available as a sounding board so that we could strategize on the selling end of this transaction. If your family ever needs to buy or sell a home, look no further than hiring Kelly as your agent.  My family has grown to love Kelly and her personality. She has a winning and positive mentality and can deal with so many personalities yet is equipped with deep professional knowledge in her field.

She was flexible in her schedule and able to schedule property visits quickly. She provided a list of what we would see and in what order, with property information so I could be prepared as we viewed each home.       Kelly Normand was prompt and responsive throughout the entire home sale processes. Her marketing tools (photos, brochur e, social media) were very effective, and she did an excellent job of generating interest in our home before it hit the market. We received a lot of traffic during the first couple of days, and we were able to find a buyer quickly. After we had vacated the property and moved across the country Kelly did an outstanding job of negotiating the inspection items and meeting with service professionals as needed to make final repairs.
